Winbooks - OpenERP Integration

The Integration module aims to import data from openerp into winbooks. Integration of openerp with winbooks software is described below. Its a one way integration with importing the invoices created in openerp into winbooks.

OpenERP 7 Integration with USPS using stamp.com

USPS is one of the providers of the shipping services. USPS services are used by majority of the users of OpenERP. USPS can be integrated with the delivery of OpenERP to manage delivery form OpenERP itself.

We have created a module that helps us manage shipping through USPS from OpenERP itself. We have archived it by using the stamp.com API. stamp.com is a vendor of the USPS stamps and it provides ways to ship any kind packages and print stamps/shipment labels for that package. To integrate OpenERP with stamp.com API, we need some basic things. They are:

OpenERP 7 Keyboard Shortcut

OpenERP 7 has made the menu navigation easier with the new user interface. But for a user, if he has made a sale order and need to view all the invoices in the system, he has to go to the main menu Invoicing and then select Customer Invoice / Supplier Invoice to view the invoice. It would be better to have a keyboard shortcut which help in easy navigation with the press of some buttons.

One of the main feature of OpenERP 7 is the extend of the customization that can be done on both frontend and backend. But for a normal user to do some basic customization on the frontend of the OpenERP, he must have some knowledge in CSS and JavaScript. But in most of the cases the end user who uses the OpenERP will not have much knowledge in those fields.

Menu Level security In OpenERP V7

Many of our customer reported a security issue in OpenERP through web browser. If we copy a Url from Admin, and login as another user, where that menu restricted, the restricted user will be able access that pages and work on it. This is an OpenERP issues, where the menus are only “hidden” and not “restricted” to users. This can be a security issue if the pages are registred in search engines or If someone who is expert in OpenERP access the data.

Since the release of the first version of OpenERP, we have seen an great improvement in OpenERP when compared to its previous releases. One of the main changes we can notice is the change in the loading time of each views and the menu navigation time. OpenERP 7 with its new web interface also shows a great improvement in speed.

Printscreen in OpenERP 7

        Print screen was a feature of OpenERP which enables the user to take the printout of the tree view of the selected records. This feature was available in OpenERP 6.1 GTK client was not available in OpenERP 6.1 web client and OpenERP 7. In OpenERP 7, there is an option to take printout of the tree view. But in OpenERP 7 we cannot select the particular records which we want to print in the report.
